Diane Mayer's Artwork
This is a sample of my work over the last two years. I am working in oil, mainly on canvas though I am also experimenting with painting on board. I am inspired by my outdoor surroundings and the beauty of the Rocky Mountain Region to paint slightly abstract landscapes with a special interest in paths and passages. Enjoy.

Blue Wave
Since Flurry got so much attention I used the same technique, acrylic and lots of water on a gesso board, to create Blue Wave. Some of the under color comes from using a previously painted board. The movement of the paint on the board creates its own shadow.

Time to Burn
I am getting ready to move so under the advice of Robert Genn, mine and many others' art guru, I decided to burn all my art that wasn't worth moving. Being an avid estate saler I have seen lots of home-made artwork that would have been better off destroyed. I have thought to myself, "when I'm dead I do not want my lousy artwork getting cleaned up with the yard sale remains to be carted off to the dumpster." Mission accomplished! I feel good about the entire experience.

Finally Facebook
I'm sure I wasn't the last one, but I sure got a lot of grief for taking so long to get to Facebook. Check out my Facebook page and "like" my art and food pages. Thanks Friends.

Happy New Year!
My goals for 2012 include lots of creative expression in art and music, finding joy in the simple acts of daily life, working toward peace in the world by making it happen in my personal life and just being the real me. (Did I mention I am still finding out who that is?)
I wish you all the best for your 2012 and offer gratitude for your occasional glimpse of my progress.

Koi Pond
I am having fun using lots of different techniques and Golden acrylics. The initial paint swirls suggested the idea of fish and the gold metallic paint brought them to life for me.

Show Season
Lots of deadlines for lots of shows.
The abstract from several posts ago, Flurry, 13x13 on wooden panel, was juried into the Littleton show.
Skyline Fountain will be in the Denver Plein Air Festival Show beginning Nov 15 at the Denver Public Library main branch.

Pop-up Didn't Happen
I just couldn't secure the real estate in a timely way. Gotta start earlier nest year.
